Introduced in 1980, the Right To Buy scheme lets you buy your council property at a discount to the full market value.
10. How long do I need to have lived at my property?
To exercise your Right to Buy you must have been a public sector tenant for a minimum qualification period of two years. We can consider joint applications with members of your family who have lived with you for the past 12 months or anyone else who is a joint tenant.
11. What's this about discounts?
How big a discount you will given on the price of your home depends on how long you have been a public sector tenant either with your present landlord, another Right To Buy landlord or certain other public bodies.
The overall cost for comparison is 11.3% APR (typical)
